Letter of Goodstanding Certificates

The “Coid Standing Team” assists more than a thousand Employers with their Letter of Goodstanding Certificate applications and manages to deliver a speedy and excellent service. On receipt of requests a consultant will respond immediately.   LETTERS OF GOOD STANDING Please be informed that with immediate effect, letters of good standing will be issued only to employers who meet the following criteria: 1.     Employer must be registered with the Fund as per section 80 of the COIDAct, 2.     Employer must have submitted all returns of earnings as per section 82 0f the COIDAct, 3.     Employer must be fully assessed as per section 83 of the COIDAct, 4.     Employer must have paid/ settled all outstanding debt as per section 86 of the COIDAct. Employers that have not yet been assessed by the Compensation Fund will first be assessed, up to the current assessment year, and are expected to pay all assessments in order to meet the criteria set out above. This process will also assist the Fund in finalising all assessment backlogs. Letters of good standing will also be issued on a month-to-month basis to employers that have entered into an instalment arrangement. (Refer to conditions on instalment settlements). Return of Earnings 2012/2013: Employers are encouraged to file their submissions.

Submit your Return of Earnings online on or before the 30th April 2013 and qualify for the following incentives: –   10% discount on assessments settled within 30 days. –    5% discount on assessments settled within 60 days. –    2% discount on assessments settled within 90 days. Who must register with the Fund?

All employers who employ one or more part time or full time employees must register with the Compensation Fund. A seperate registration is necessary for each separate branch of a business, unless an arrangement for combined registration has been made. An employer should register with the compensation fund within seven (7) days after the first employee was employed.   Who is an employer? All persons who employ one or more employees, in connection with their business / farming activities, organisation / association / trust are “employers” in terms of the Act. What are the benefits of registration? Employers Employers are protected against civil claims if employees get injured on duty or contract Occupational Diseases. Employees Employees who are injured on duty or who contracted occupational diseases can claim compensation for temporary or permanent disablement according to the degree of disablement and death. Reasonable medical aid expenses arising out of an injury on duty are payable for a period of two (2) years or longer if further medical treatment is needed and if it will reduce the extent of disability.
